12b media coursework

3rd December 2009

Week B Period 1 and 2

During these two lessons we were discussing on whether or not to carry on with the idea we came up with. In the end we decided to scap the idea as we believe it wouldnt work well for our film genre. Instead we came up with a similar idea but in parts different. It starts off with someone running either in the day or at night. It cuts to a room where it pans round and shows images/flashbacks of a happy family however suddenly turns to violence.

Characters-

Sam - Husband/man running

Georgina- wife/victim

12B Media coursework Final Idea

30th November 2009 Week A

Period 3 and 4

During these two periods we came up with a final idea for our film. We decided on using a murder theme to convey a thriller genre, therefore scrapping the idea of a graveyard or a psychiatrist idea. We came up with a murder scene where the victim had been on a night out, talking to herself, tipsy and was walking home. It develops from there where the victim walks into a dark alley or place and someones following her who is the murderer. The audience then hear footsteps which are loud and then the audience see a knife. As soon as this happens a black /dark screen blocks the actual scene and you hear the victim first say "help me" in a whispered voice as if scared so much they cant shout. Then a scream is heard whilst the titles are rolling during the black/dark screen. After this a man in an office wakes up suddenly from the scream that develops into a telephone ringing. That man answers the call and is told a new sectary is being brought in. The sectary comes in whilst the man is looking into a mirror getting ready. The man sees the woman in the mirror and is so shocked to see her as it is the same woman in the dream that was murdered. He questions whether shes the new sectary. It develops from there that the sectary questions to sit down and the man is still so confused and scared he doesn't know what to say. Overall i believe this is necessary for the amount of time we have to create our film.

Characters
Killer - Sam
Man Waking up - Jack
Victim - Georgina
Other sectary leaving- Samira

Location list
Office can be used in school day time
Murder takes place outside day time
Costumes
Victim- something that looks like been on town
Man dreaming- smartly dressed, tie, shirt
Killer- jeans, long coat
Sectary- smartly dressed, heels, folder, glasses, hair tied back

12b Media coursework

Week B 26th November 2009

Period 1 and 2

During these two periods we came up with what type of lighting, camera shots, etc to choose to enable us to come up with a definite idea for our film.
To do this we done research by watching films that contain thriller as a genre. For example some of the films we watched were Seven, 28 days later, Usual suspects, Heat, Casino Royale, L.A Confidential, and Memento. As we only have 2 minutes for our film to use up we watched the opening scene for each film that gave us ideas for our own. For example we noticed that most of the films contained dark backgrounds, that put the audience on edge. There was music that blended into the background, it didn't stand out.

12b Media Foundation portfolio

24th November 2009

Week B Period 4

During these two lessons we decided on what type of genre we would use for our main task of film. We decided on thriller as it gives excitement to the audience watching and from personal experience making the audience want to know more and find out more.

We then came up with a main idea for our film. This involves a funeral scene that invloves props such as flowers, a graveyard/cemetary one or two people visiting the graveyard. It also involves a person having flashbacks of the murder of the person who had died. This plot creates the excitement and tension invloved within a thriller genre of a film.
